SUMMARY OF POSITION

Kinsley is seeking an experienced VDC/BIM Manager for their growing Building Division in York, PA. The VDC/BIM Manager leads and manages all VDC/BIM related efforts for Kinsley Construction. From Preconstruction through closeout, the VDC/BIM manager is involved with projects throughout the entire life-cycle. The VDC/BIM Manager will report to the Vice President in Kinsley’s Building Division. In addition, the VDC/BIM Manager will work with employees to communicate the benefits of VDC/BIM, establish hardware and software standards, assist in training of critical software programs, and stay on top of industry trends.

A successful candidate should possess an Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree or background along with applicable leadership experience, strong communication skills, and excellent computer software skills.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

MARKETING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:

  • Create Renderings, Videos, walkthroughs, etc.
  • Develop 360 views and 3D modeling for project proposals, presentations, and tradeshows

ESTIMATING & PRECONSTRUCTION:

  • Provide BIM-related solutions for all departments and divisions within Kinsley Construction to resolve a variety of technical issues related to the use of VDC/BIM during both preconstruction and construction phases
  • Lead BIM Project setup – Execution Plan, Kick-off meeting, and schedule
  • Work as part of a project team to facilitate collaboration and communication through use of BIM from early preconstruction and design, to construction and operations
  • Oversee development of 3D BIM models
  • Review design and constructability through use of 3D models
  • Coordinate Architectural, Structural, MEP(FP), and any other major trade or system, including but not limited to – medical gases, owner supplied equipment, clearance and access, site logistics, by use of 3D models and “Clash Detection”
  • Assist Estimating & Preconstruction teams with “5D” information for estimating purposes
  • Create Site Logistics or Phasing Plans

CONSTRUCTION

  • Work with PX/PM to sets goals and expectations (including schedules) for BIM uses on a specific project; motivate and drive subcontractors to meet these goals and dates
  • Set up and lead meetings to discuss design, coordination, or constructability issues; document all activity – meeting minutes and saved models/drawings/PDFs
  • Investigate new software programs and processes as it relates to BIM
  • Facilitate problem solving or resolving issues through use of BIM technologies
  • Ensure all team members understand BIM requirements and deliverables
  • Acquire and distribute information related to BIM in conjunction with the project schedule
  • Create, acquire, review, distribute and coordinate 3-dimensional Building Information Models
  • Combine trade specific models into one aggregate model for Design Review and Clash Detection using Autodesk Navisworks
  • Implement use of BIM-related software, including but not limited to: Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Navisworks, Trimble Sketchup, etc.
  • Support construction by working with field personnel – PMs, Superintendents, Foreman, Subs
  • Provide direct hands-on training to internal staff on BIM-concepts, software, and workflows
  • Provide technical support of BIM applications and processes to subcontractor
  • Creates “4D” Construction sequencing videos using the project schedule
  • Performs other duties as necessary

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • 2-4 year post-secondary degree preferred
  • General understanding of various building systems – Structural, MEP
  • Understanding of design and document coordination
  • Knowledge of construction terms and techniques – Means and Methods
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must have strong leadership skills
  • Ability to lead a new process with new technology
  • Strong teaching, coaching, and training skills
  • Possesses technical skills as related to BIM – software: Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks
  • Willingness to learn new things, by being adaptable and flexible
