Description

The Project Accountant is responsible for all accounting and administrative duties related to their assigned projects. Primary tasks include the project invoicing and payment process, budget to job cost comparison, daily review of job cost related items, subcontract/purchase order preparation and compliance tracking, and change order preparation. You would be responsible for supporting a group of Project Management Teams to help ensure a profitable, successful project.

A successful candidate should possess applicable field experience, strong computer skills, good communication skills and a willingness to learn.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with Project Management Team to quickly buyout a project at commencement. This includes preparation and distribution of subcontract and purchase order agreements with the required compliance attachments
  • Track compliance of all subcontractors and material suppliers
  • Scan and enter invoices from subcontractors into Viewpoint
  • Review material tickets daily that are received from the field to ensure accuracy of coding
  • Review AP unapproved invoices daily, code or forward to Project Management Team for coding
  • Load weekly payment to subcontractors as payments are received from owners
  • Prepare owner and subcontractor change orders
  • Preparation of monthly project billings. Effectively communicate with Project Managers and Principals in Charge, regarding contract documents and change orders related to billing
  • Work with Project Managers to keep accounts receivables current on projects
  • Monthly analyzing of projects with Project Managers to prepare for financial closing
  • Prepare and distribute job cost analysis reports
  • Process weekly certified payroll reports for prevailing wage projects
  • Collect and manage payrolls from subcontractor on prevailing wage projects
  • Directly assist project management teams with any duties required to complete projects on time and within budget
  • Report directly to the Divisional Vice President and indirectly to the Divisional Controller

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Prior Accounting experience required; Construction Project Accounting strongly preferred
  • 2-4 Year post-secondary degree preferred
  • Computer and software skills, including Microsoft Office required, Vista/Viewpoint preferred
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills
  • Strong organization, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with all personnel within the organization and facilitate communication effectively
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to be a team player, flexible, and able to work in fast paced and changing environment
